Blogging s-l-o-w-i-n-g down...

I'm hoping that my days of blogging aren't numbered. It seems that I've been writing less and less lately. I think it's been almost a full year since I started writing this blog. I either started it on the 30th or 31st of March 2004. Kinda interesting. I've talked about so many different subjects...even my underwear (today they are brand new ones... if anyone cares!!).

I spent this past weekend in Chicago visiting my family. Easter Saturday was my dad's 65th birthday and Easter Sunday was my nephew's 5th birthday. My parents and I drove down to Bloomington, Indiana to spend the weekend with my brother and his family. We watched in amazement as Illinois beat Arizona in overtime during their "Elite Eight" game. More on that later. My brother's kids are getting so big. I still can't believe that he has 3. Totally weird feeling of normal.

The rest of the weekend I hung out with my family and saw one of my old friends from college. It was good to get away. Chicago is such a beautiful city... even in this period between the end of winter and a full blown spring... it's still a great city to look at. Architecture students will have a field day visiting there.

In other random news:

1. My brother doesn't go to church anymore. The kids are being raised agnostic. That sucks.
2. My back hurts like hell today. I'm not sure what I did to it. But it's stiff as a board. Totally hurts to bend over.
3. Watched "Finding Neverland" again on Sunday evening. Liked it better the second time around. It's just a great movie.
4. The Illinois vs. Arizona basketball game was one of the most exciting games I have ever seen. It was amazing. People who don't like sports or who don't understand why people who like sports are the way that we are... should be made to watch this game. It's times like this that I'm proud to be a sports fan.
5. I just read the story that is going to be published regarding my transplant. Honestly, I wish I wrote it myself... I just didn't have the time. I think I could have done a better job. She wrote it in a way that makes me sound like I'm 10. Oh well, not many people are going to read it.
6. Four more days until my little Hershey Spa experience... and because of recent events (see #2) it couldn't have come at a better time.
7. My take on Terri Schiavo. I'm writing a living will .... VERY, VERY, VERY SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all folks.

Ta-ta for now.

It's been pretty slow here today... not much of anything happening. Only 21 more minutes until my relief shows up. I'm thinking I'll stop and rent a movie on the way home.

That's it... go back to whatever you were doing before you stopped for a visit in my little part of the world.

Oh.. in other news... I'm thinking of taking a mini-break to Williamsburg, VA in July. It will be hotter than Hell there at that time... but I think it will be a lot of fun also. I haven't been since I was like 11 and actually would let people see me in my Shaun Cassidy T-Shirt!!!! My oh my... how times have changed.... Now I keep my crushes insanely private.

Bye for now.

Is what my pager said at 8.38 this morning. Thankfully, it was cancelled. Just a minor blip they said. I'm here at the hospital... I've traded my normal overnight shift for the day shift. I'm just working until 5pm today. I'm not a big fan of the days shifts.... usually there is a lot more action that takes place here. It's hard to keep up sometimes.. The person on previous to me left me a couple of patients to visit. I think I'll go walk around about 10am. It's still too early for a visitor to pop into someone's room.

So...what else can I report

Monday: watched a great episode of Two & a Half Men (see previous post)
Tuesday: did laundry
Wednesday: had pastoral care class
Thursday: met my new friend Jill at Slingo... this great little Irish pub that opened up in Media. I had fish & chips.. and a Smithwicks (my favorite beer that I remember from Ireland). I'm so glad this little place opened. It really had a friendly familiar feel to it (try saying "friendly familiar feel" 10x fast!).
Friday: Felt VERY proud of myself. In 90 minutes time I seemed to blow $140! $20 on gas, $60 at Target, & $60 at Acme. The proud part was that I actually started to use coupons... which always seem like such a waste. At Target I saved $7!!! And, instead of buying things I really didn't need at Target... I actually only got the things on my list..... OK, the chocolate covered marshmallow eggs weren't on my list...

Well, that's about it for now.. it's 9am... Enjoy your Saturday.

Two and a Half Men...

How can someone NOT love this show? I taped last night's episode and watched it this morning. It has to be one of the funniest shows on network TV. I laughed for 22 straight minutes. Anyway, if you haven't yet... check it out. It's a great show.

In other news...nothing really that exciting to report.

Ta-ta for now.

Poi Dog Pondering...

Can I tell you how much I love this band????????????????????????? I. LOVE. THIS. BAND. LOVE THEM. LOVE THEM...I was introduced to PDP when I was a Sophomore in college. They never really made it big outside of Chicago. They had a couple of albums on Columbia... but they didn't sell that well. Currently I'm listening to their album from 1995 "Pomegranate". This is the type of band... you can be in the crappiest of moods... and you'll go listen to them and they just make you forget all your troubles... they are sorta folk and sorta rock. Frank Orral (I think that's his last name) is an amazing singer/songwriter. Check them out at

In other news... It's Friday.

Thank the living God on high.

Ta-ta... enjoy your weekend.

A Student's Advice...

A new student for next year said to me (about 5 minutes ago)... "maybe you should move to Alaska to find a husband... lots of men in Alaska."

Hmmm... maybe.

What do you all think?

My Underwear...

for today is a lot like Bridget Jones'. It's the girdle like undies from the 1950s.... This pair is always my backup pair (ie... when I haven't done laundry and my 40 previous pairs need to be washed) and sits in the upper drawer of my dresser. I only wear it when every other possible underwear option has been played. They are tight. They feel fine at 6am when I put them on...but now 9 hours later... I REALLY, REALLY wish I wasn't wearing them. I'm counting the minutes (102 to be exact) until I am able to get home and put something a little more comfortable on.

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

And, truth be told... I don't even need to wear these... my stomach isn't that huge... and I feel like a small elephant is standing on it right now.

That's it for now.
