Sunday Evening Ramblings & other interesting thoughts...

1.
Something you might not have known about me: I really enjoy the Indianapolis 500. I watch it every year. Makes me long for being in Indiana. Today's race was amazing.

2. The White Sox are dying a slow death. They lost again today.

3. Yesterday I spent the day in Baltimore. I'm so glad I live so close to this city. I decided to drive down to get a crab cake sandwich. Truth be told, it ended up being a pretty expensive day for just a sandwich. Here was my talley: tolls: total of $4.00. parking: $15.00. crab cake lunch: $11.00. postcards: $1.50. fudge: $22.00. earrings: $22.00. Anyway, I had a great day and enjoyed treating myself. (so sue me!)

4. Currently, I am the Dorans watching little Joseph going to bed. He's such a great three year old.

Well, that's about it from here.

Bye for now.

Back to my old self... almost

T
his time.... without a gallbladder. Surgery was successful. The goal was accomplished. I went into surgery around noon on Friday, May 20th and came out a little later with one heck of a stomach ache. I had the misfortune of being held overnight against my will at the hospital.. This little tramautic event reminded me of why I hate hospitals so much. Yes, I know... I work in one...but that doesn't mean I have to like being a patient in one. Truth be told, my doctors thought it would be good to keep me overnight to monitor my heart function...which I agreed with...but by Saturday morning... I just wanted the hell out of dodge.

In other news... I'm not at work today. I'm sitting in the house of Doran. Watching Joseph (the happiest 3 year old this side of Baltimore Pike) play with his train set... it's quite amusing. Sue is a great mom... no matter how much I tell her otherwise (which, sometimes I do!!).

Well, just wanted to check in today. I'll be back at work tomorrow. Yippy.

Ta-ta for now.

My ears are still ringing....

I had the opportunity to attend the U2 concert last night at the Wachovia Center here in Philadelphia. It was amazing. Now I see why everyone is so in love with Bono (and the rest of U2). In a stroke of luck, my general admission ticket got upgraded to an actual seat in the front row (albeit on the side... and far away from the stage)! I'm very thankful that I didn't have to stand through the whole show.

Attending a concert like this you get a good dose of people watching. People doing really stupid things you KNOW they would never do during the week when they were sober. Interesting....

In other news: A big thank you to the South Holland Fire Department for saving part of my inheritance from going up in flames. Good homeowner tip #1: When deciding to go to a movie, DO NOT (and I repeat DO NOT) decide to make hard boiled eggs 10 minutes before you leave. Let's just leave it at that.

Have a good day.

TGIF

It's been a long week. A long, long, long week.

I'm sure I would get used to getting up at 5am every morning if I had to... but 3 days this week is a little too much for me. I just want to sleep past 8am once this week. I think this will happen tomorrow.

Other highlights...
1. lots of testing for my surgery next week. blah.
2. watched a great white sox game on tv last night.
3. gosh... i know more happened... i'm just too tired to remember any of it.

Bye for now... I might have more to write later.

Saturday Ramblings...

1. I think Netflix is going to become v. v. addictive. I just joined w/ some friends... I spent 45 minutes just looking at movies for my queue.

2. Why is it that only homeless men think I'm hot? A couple said so on my way to work this morning.

Enjoy your day!

Baseball generalities...

1. I feel the need to clarify a previous post... I was reminded that "love" is a very strong word to use... and to use it in the context of seeing one 1/2 inning of minor league ball... I was being a little frivolous... so, let me explain this again.... I think I will like minor league ball... should I see a game in its entirity. The reason I feel this way is because it is cheap, cheap, cheap. But, don't get me wrong... I am still and always will be a baseball snob and have no problem paying $60 for a seat at a game.

2. The Chicago White Sox are 21-7.

3. Isn't life grand?

ps... In other news... my little friend Joseph survived his first overnight stay at the hospital. He deserves a big ice cream cone. Damn the calories or tooth decay.

It's Tuesday already???

For lack of a better title for this post... I can't believe it's almost midweek already. And it's May!!! Where has this year gone? Tonight I have another presentation... then I go home and drink tea.

And in other news...
1. It sucks to be Audrey Rains right now... (for all you "24" fans out there!)
2. I think I love minor league baseball now... who knew???
3. I'm still sick... not as sick... but still sick
4. 17 days until my little operation. UGH.

Bye for now.
