How do you like those Apples?

I had the good fortune of getting a new computer a couple of days ago. An Apple iMac G5. I have to say... what other people are saying is definitely true. I love my little G5. I'm in the processing of uploading my whole music collection (well.. maybe NOT everything... but definitely my favorite albums). Even though I was looking at Apples.. I basically resigned myself into buying another Dell because PCs are so much cheaper than Apples... Thankfully, I have great parents who like cool things... and this translates into a new G5 for me. It's been nice learning a new operating system.

Yes... I love my new Apple. Would recommend it to anyone.

Other randomness...
1. Saw Harry Potter on Satuday. It was OK... not my favorite. I actually fell asleep.
2. Final thoughts on T.O. Please go back to where you came from. UGH.
3. Sick as a dog... took yesterday off. Hopefully my cold won't linger too long. Feeling a little better today... but still not at 100%.

Ta-ta for now.

Random Cuteness...

(is called Jenna!)

Ok... isn't she cute? In her little Ohio Buckeye's outfit!!! I am sooo NOT an Ohio Buckeye fan... never will be... but her parents are good friends of mine and I miss them horribly. So... seeing Jenna makes me happy.

In other news... I'm hoping today goes by fast... or my employers let us out early. The day after Thanksgiving is dead. NOTHING. HAPPENS. NOTHING.

Re: Thanksgiving. Had a great meal!!! And... (drumroll please).. I tried cranberries for the first time. When I think of cranberries I think of that mushy stuff that slides out of a can... These cranberries were real cranberries... VERY good... and at times... VERY tart. After dinner we all took a very short walk into town (the weather wasn't really cooperating) and then I was allowed to partake on their custom of painting Christmas oranments. It was a fun day. It was very hard getting up this morning for work.

Speaking of work... maybe I'll try to get something accomplished.

Big Problem here...

I have a MAJOR tooth ache.... MAJOR... which means i should probably go see the dentist. Only problem I HATE the dentist. I'm SCARED to death about seeing a dentist. Literally, it's my worst fear in life.

I know... I have major social issues. I'm not sure why I'm so scared. But I am. Bad experiences??? I can't even remember... it's been that long.

Any recommendations?

Only 2 more hours to go...

It started off as a VERY quiet night. I even paged myself to see if the darn pager was working. I tried to sleep around 10.30pm... I think I slept for a few hours. I recieved my first page at 3.07am and then the 2nd one came around 4.37am.

All I can say is people who think getting drunk is cool... are so very wrong.

Only 15 more hours to go...(5pm)

OK... I just started the pastoral care portion of my evening. From now until 8am tomorrow morning I'm the one that will be called. The woman I am following said that it was a pretty slow day. I'm hoping the evening is the same way. Maybe... maybe not.

For my free afternoon I spent wandering around Old City. I went to my favorite stationary store. Bought one card so I can write a letter a little later tonight. Then I went to Strawbridges to look for some sunglasses since my pair broke a few weeks ago. This is the 2nd major department store in the city to tell me that they do not carry sunglasses during the winter. Apparently, because it's not sunny enough. Well, guys I'm here to tell you that it was pretty darn sunny today. My quest for the perfect pair continues.

After that I went to Reading Terminal Market for lunch. I ended up having a reuben sandwich w/ fries from the Amish Lunch Stand. Sad to say... the fries weren't that good... I left most of them on the plate.

More later...

I finished with the Open House a little bit ago. Now I have 2 hrs & 25 minutes to kill before I'm needed back at the hospital. I'm going to take a walk down to Old City (where all the historical stuff is)... It's a little chilly outside... but nothing too bad.

More later.
The Next 24 hours... give or take a few...

10.09am. Here in my office at work. I have an open house to attend for prospective students from 11-2pm.. after this... I have a few free hours to walk around the city. I need to be back at the hospital at 4.45pm for my overnight shift at the hospital for pastoral care duty. I will be able to go home tomorrow at 8am.

Thankfully, I brought my fuzzy slippers for tonight.

More later.

Oh... why do I have no will power whatsoever when it comes to chocolate? Is it because I'm a woman? I'm not sure...

I just ate two (TWO!!!!) halves of a brownie w/ thick chocolate frosting. TWO!!!! Not just one... but TWO!!! We have a whole tub of them in our office which are leftovers from Saturday's presentation.

I will be so lucky if I make it through the holidays w/o gaining 50 pounds... Ok... so, I won't gain 50...but 10... that's sooo doable.

And speaking of chocolate... here are my favorites:
1. Godiva Dark Chocolate w/ raspberry filling (but at $2.50/bar.. I don't have them very often).
2. Aero Bar ( and since these aren't produced in the States... I'm pretty safe on these also..but if anyone is going to Canada or Europe..get me a box)
3. Hershey Kisses (basically all varieties)
4. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
5. Anything w/ carmel.
6. York Peppermint Patties.

That's about it for now....

ps... quick update on Saturday evening's dinner. I can soooo NEVER be a vegetarian. Meat is good.
There's something to be said for boring moms...

They're better than those moms who want to be cool.

God, I hope I'm a boring mom.

Since I started at this position almost 2 years ago... there has been a problem with the heat in our office... almost to the point where I will constanly wear my coat and/or have my space heater running from the minute I get into the office.

Well, folks... I'm happy (HAPPY!) to report... I haven't used my heater in 3 days. The heat is fixed.

Gosh damn...that's a very good thing!

I just realized...

The White Sox... you know... those guys who haven't won a World Series in 88 years... they didn't even get the cover of Sports Illustrated. The Arizona Diamondbacks got more respect than we did...

Sorry.. I'm done pouting.
A cool picture & a better message...

The above is from my visit to Ireland. I forget the name of the place... but it where the Irish would go to hold Mass without fear of being persecuted by the Protesants..That's the cool picture...

Now here is the cool message which I took from another blog that I read quite often. The blog belongs to a sister of a person I used to know when I lived in Columbus. You might have all read about the pastor from Waco, TX who was electrocuted while he was in the middle of baptizing a member of his church. His name was Kyle Lake and he was 33 years old. This was to be his sermon that was never spoken.

I just think it's very appropriate. Here begins the portion that I didn't write at all...

Kyle Lake, passed away at the age of 33, last sunday morning during a service at his church. He was the pastor at University Baptist in Waco, TX. Kyle was about to perform a baptism on stage when a microphone fell into the water he was standing in. He was electrocuted and died in front of his congregation.Kyle lived his life fully and touched so many people's lives. i wanted to share with you an excerpt from his sermon the sunday he died...These were to be his closing thoughts... He never got to share them...

"Live. And Live Well. BREATHE. Breathe in and Breathe deeply.
Be PRESENT. Do not be past. Do not be future. Be now. On a crystal clear, breezy 70 degree day, roll down the windows and FEEL the wind against your skin. Feel the warmth of the sun.If you run, then allow those first few breaths on a cool Autumn day to FREEZE your lungs and do not just be alarmed, be ALIVE.Get knee-deep in a novel and LOSE track of time.If you bike, pedal HARD… and if you crash then crash well.Feel the SATISFACTION of a job well done—a paper well-written, a project thoroughly completed, a play well-performed.If you must wipe the snot from your 3-year old's nose, don't be disgusted if the Kleenex didn't catch it all… because soon he'll be wiping his own.If you've recently experienced loss, then GRIEVE. And Grieve well.At the table with friends and family, LAUGH. If you're eating and laughing at the same time, then might as well laugh until you puke. And if you eat, then SMELL. The aromas are not impediments to your day. Steak on the grill, coffee beans freshly ground, cookies in the oven. And TASTE. Taste every ounce of flavor. Taste every ounce of friendship. Taste every ounce of Life.Because it is most definitely a Gift."

Have a great day.

Very, Very Random...

So... nothing all too exciting happen in the Ramusack household of one. Here are some observations.

1. I hate it when expensive shoes tear up my heal. My heal was bleeding like a rare piece of meat on Sunday afternoon...& now it hurts like heck...but, it's my own fault... the shoes are really, really cool.
2. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. How can you NOT love this show? I think I cried for two hours straight. Sunday's episode was amazing. The Tom family from CA. This single mom has adopted 8 children with different disabilities. They were such an amazing family and finally I didn't mind all the excess that ABC showers upon them...They deserved every bit of it.
3. "Lost" tomorrow night... I wonder who will die.... Please not Sayeed... PLEASE... He's my favorite character.
4. Have received an invitation for Thanksgiving Dinner. Ahh.... I will not be eating dinner by myself watching the Macy's parade. And, I have a place to bring my Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake.
5. Steak dinner is coming my way on Saturday evening. Ruth Chris Steak House in KOP. Can't wait. It will be an expensive evening... but money isn't the issue for this evening. Celebration is.
6. Terrell Owens situation. To stick with the Thanksgiving theme... he cooked his own goose. He has to be the most selfish professional player I have ever watched. More so than Dennis Rodman during the Bulls glory years. Very glad to see him gone. Probably the best decision the Eagles will make this year.

Ta-ta for now.

Dealing with Insurance companies...

Brings out the worst in me. Specifically, my heath insurance company. I received a bill for $100 from another medical center who shall remain nameless (but it's the largest employer in Philadelphia). This was from a visit I had back in November of 2004. Almost a year ago. The procedure I had done has a $100 "facility charge" because I do not have it done at my home hospital (ie... Jefferson). Well, this would be all fine & dandy if they told me this 2 years ago... $100 every six months isn't a big deal...but to find out that I now owe $500 because every procedure has had that $100 fee attached. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hung up twice with the insurance company and called them useless to boot.

Like I said... it brings out the worst.

In other news... I will get home for 11 days over Christmas. V. excited about that. I'll be home from 12/23-1/2. It's the first time, well, actually EVER that I've had the whole week off between Christmas & New Years. Now.. I just need to find somewhere to crash for Thanksgiving. So far no invites.

In other, other news... I enjoyed immensely the Trick or Treating last night w/ the kids. Joseph was a lion, Emma was a fireman (or fire-toddler.. have your pick), Sammy was a dragon, & Ben was a Giraffe. It was such a great night to walk outside... Media is a great town.

Bye for now... Can't believe I went a whole post without mentioning the White Sox... oops... I just did!!!

So, in case you were living in a gutter and didn't know... the WHITE SOX ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!!! It will be a sad winter without baseball..
